Who is eligible.
Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master’s degree programme starting September 2009 or February 2010 ( All MA, MSc and LL.M programmes as mentioned on the website Master’s programmes in Leiden).
All nationalities enrolling in the following programmes starting September 2009 or February 2010:
- Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in Air and Space Law
- Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in European and International Business Law
- Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Tax Law
- Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in Public International Law
- MA in International Relations and Diplomacy
Students should be aware that the LExS is not a full scholarship. It is necessary to find additional funding to be able to finance their study and stay completely.
One of the requirements for being granted a residence permit in the Netherlands is that students must submit proof that they have sufficient financial means to finance their study period in the Netherlands. Leiden University advises a budget, not including the tuition fee, of approx. €10,000 to €14,000 per year to cover the costs for rent, insurance, living expenses, course books and local transportation. How much money students actually spend will of course depend on their life style and spending habits.

To apply for the scholarship, you should write a letter of motivation (in Word) of a maximum of 500 words, in which you indicate why you believe you should be considered for this scholarship. The Word document can then be attached to your online application for the master’s programmes for which you are applying.

University of Maastricht PhD Positions
University of Maastricht, the youngest university in the Netherlands, is renowned for its unique, innovative, problem-based learning system, which is characterized by a small-scale and approach students. The International Institute for Globalization and Regulation (IGIR) is an interdisciplinary institute at the University of Maastricht which to focus the regulatory process and the tools used to manage the dynamic interaction between economic globalization and fundamental social values .
The Faculty of Law of Maastricht University is offering:
* Two Ph.D. positions in the field of International Economic Law
* The Ph.D. projects will be carried out in the framework of the Institute for Globalisation and International Regulation
* One Ph.D. project concerns the tension between private-sector standards reflecting consumer concerns and developing country market access under WTO law. (Vacancy Notice AT2007.210)
* One Ph.D. project concerns the conflict between the liberalization of trade in services and the protection of core societal values under the General Agreement on Trade in Services. (Vacancy Notice AT2007.209)
Tasks
To engage in scientific research under surveillance, which will eventually lead to a doctoral thesis (85%) and lectures on subjects A to the Faculty of curriculum (15%).
Requirements
Lawyer qualified with an excellent knowledge of international economic law, an advanced degree in this field is a definite advantage and enthusiastic and determined with the researcher forefront of analytical and writing skills of English proficiency.
Appointment
The appointment will be full time, for a period of four years and should lead to a doctoral thesis. The appointment will take effect on 1 September 2008. The gross monthly salary will be in accordance with the regulations of the University for academic staff, which ranged from € 1956 – in the first year, up to a maximum of € 2502, – in the last year.

Applicants must submit a written request before January 15, 2008, accompanied by a detailed CV, a transcript of records indicating grades, a letter of application and details of three arbitrators, at least two of whom are familiar with the candidate `s academic abilities.
