International Giessen Graduate School for the Life Sciences (GGL) Scholarship

The International Giessen Graduate School for the Life Sciences (GGL) of the Faculties for Medicine and Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural, Nutritional and Environmental Sciences, Biology and Chemistry as well as the PhD Program of the Faculties of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine invite applicants for the Doctoral Programs in the Life Sciences.

Application Deadline: August 15, 2008

The Doctoral Programs consist of a three-year interdisciplinary curriculum combined with an experimental project leading to a dissertation. Each doctoral researcher will be supervised by two professors from different faculties and will benefit from our Doctoral Researcher Development Program. Seminars and courses are conducted in English; German language courses are offered for international students. Depending on the project selected and own qualifications students may receive a stipend and may be eligible to register for one of the doctoral degrees offered at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen (Ph. D., Dr. med., Dr. med. dent., Dr. biol. hom., Dr. med. vet., Dr. biol. anim., Dr. rer. nat., Dr. agr. and Dr. oec. troph).

Scholarship Applicants may choose between eight interdisciplinary research sections:

• Man, Nutrition and Environment;
• Infection and Immunology;
• Heart, Lung and Blood Vessels;
• Biochemistry and Molecular Biology;
• Neurosciences;
• Reproduction in Man and Animals;
• Stress Resistance and Adaptation;
• Synthetic Molecules and Materials for the Life Sciences.

A Master’s degree or equivalent is required for admission. Open research projects as well as other information necessary for application can be found at:
